Our Ball Catch lock requires minimal resistance to open and are easy to close. This lock is very popular for pantry or laundry room uses and are installed in the top, bottom, or side edge of doors to hold them in a closed position. Mortise ball catches consist of two separate parts to complete its locking function. There is a spring loaded ball held within a cylinder attached to a flange as well as a latch to hold the ball once in locking position. This flange and cylinder is attached to the mobile part of the door while the latch is installed on the edge of the door frame. Once closing the door, the ball then rolls over the latch creating friction and keeping the door static. Due to the light friction, pulling this door apart is extremely easy and requires minimal exertion. This inconspicuous piece of door hardware is only 2 1/4" by 1 ⅜” and has a diameter of 7/8 inches. Our catches come with installation hardware to make installing your door accessory as easy as 1,2,3. This lock is available in our bright brass finish.
