Our ML800 Series Mortise Lock adds style and security for mortise applications and “Atrium” style doors. This is a solid brass lockset that features a reversible latch bolt and lever, as well as an ADA approved strike. This lockset has a standard entry function, allowing for the thumbturn to be locksed and unlocked with a key (featured on the opposite side of the thumbturn.) Comes with a standard ASA strike, escutcheon (the metal faceplate that the handle sits atop), and a five year warranty. This lockset comes in our bright brass, nickel, and chrome finishes. A mortise lock is the metal casing that holds the operating part of a lockset into a pre-cut mortise cut in the door. The style of the actual door shutter is what is considered the mortise lock. Mortise locks are considered a very strong and secure lock, since there is a hidden lock and its keyhole is only visible from the outside. hidden lock only key hole is visible from outside. There are of two types of mortise locks; a single cylinder lock and double cylinder lock. Single cylinder locks feature a key on the outside but not on the inside. A double cylinder mortise lock on the other hand is operated on both sides with a key, offering better protection against intruders since a key is needed for both sides on entry. Although complex in their aesthetic, mortise locks are supreme locks to provide you and your space protection.
